 The ADA regulation language related to bus doors (49CFR, Subparagraph 38.25(c)) (1) requires a clear door opening height of 68 inches above a raised lift platform or above the highest point of an access ramp. The regulations are silent concerning clear door width; however, 32 inches is the generally accepted minimum clear opening for handicapped access. These dimensions are illustrated in Figure 22.
